Baths Improve Heart Health

We already know the benefits of a hot bath on the skin, muscles and mind, but have you heard the results of scientific research spanning over the last 20 years?

The study followed the bathing habits and cardiovascular disease risk of over 60,000 Japanese adults over 20 years. The results show that a hot bath daily can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke by close to 30%, as a result of the lowered blood pressure and hypertension from immersion in hot water. They also noted that the temperature of the bath does matter - the hotter the better. Bathers using warm water resulted in 26% lower risk for heart disease, whereas those using hot water had a 35% lowered risk.

Taking a bath is proven to be preventative against heart disease by improving what scientists call “hemodynamic function”, or the way blood is pumped throughout the body. The bottom line, the more you bathe, the lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
