Although baths may seem like the perfect skin and body enhancer - you step in dull, dry and stressed and emerge as a relaxed glowing goddess, right? Sometimes, yes! But to ensure you actually feel this way and prevent any damaging affects, read on to my top tub faux pas.
First and most obvious, clean your tub between uses. There’s nothing worse than getting in ready to unwind and feeling a slimy tub surface or crunchy stuff from the last round. Ew. Mold and bacteria build up is serious business, so take the time and do it right.
Second, and not quite as obvious is water temperature. I happen to love a scalding hot bath during the frigid winter months, but to my dismay, this dries out the skin and defeats the purpose. Similarly, look for all natural, not overly fragranced products which can also dry out and damage your skin. The more it smells often means the more additives it contains. One of my go to companies, LUSH, creates handmade, all natural bath products that do not test on animals and are 100% vegetarian. They are a no brainer when it comes to peace of mind in the bath.
Lastly, don’t over do it. Too much of anything isn’t good and that applies to baths. Do not add in an entire bottle of essential oils to increase scent or any other product for that matter. A little goes a long way. And I will stress, as I have many times before, be sure to add a carrier oil or bath salts along with essential oil use. Coconut oil, jojoba and almond oil are great ones. Add the essential oils and carrier oil in a small jar, shake, then disperse into warm water, otherwise the essential oil droplets adhere to the skin (and lady parts!).
